Over the years, Codsall Kitchen Studio has built up many proven, trade associated partnerships. This is to help offer all customers the convenience of a ‘one-stop-shop’ service - catering for all project needs. This not only ensures that exacting levels of quality are met, but also, that budgets and time schedules are adhered to.
With this firmly in mind, Codsall Kitchen studio can undertake building works such as wall removals, internal doors and windows as well as all necessary trades to include plumbing, electrics, plastering, flooring and general decoration. Should you require, Codsall Kitchen Studio can even undertake a complete kitchen extension!
If done right, a kitchen extension can transform both your living space and way of life. However, like any building project, a kitchen extension is a big undertaking and therefore it needs to be approached in the right way.
Codsall Kitchen Studio’s ‘one-stop-shop’ approach extends to building extension works – using our own, provan construction trade partner to ensure:
A complete - project managed approach - from design through to finished ‘turn key’ solution
A fully coordinated design solution - from room layout, furniture style, lighting and all surface finishes
Budgets and deadlines are adhered to - ensuring no nasty surprises
The highest possible levels of fit and finish - for the perfect, uncompromised result
1. Involve Your Kitchen Company Early On
The most successful kitchen extension projects are where Codsall Kitchen Studio liaise with both architects and builders early on. Working together ensures that all electrics and plumbing (and the right kind of electrics and plumbing!) are installed in exactly the right places – in accordance with the best possible kitchen design/ layout.
To try and ‘retro’ fit certain services, due to a lack of communication, leads to additional costs and often – a compromised finish. For example, it’s easy for a builder to overlook the fact that your island has an additional sink; to dig up a freshly laid floor to install drainage isn’t something you really want to contemplate! Similarly, that electric point might only be 1 inch too far to the left BUT it could be the difference between a cabinet fitting OR not fitting greatly delaying the install process.
2. Best Use of Space
In the nicest possible way, unlike Codsall Kitchen Studio, neither your architect or builder are experts in kitchen design… and how to use kitchen space effectively!
Codsall Kitchen Studio has over 45 years - specific design experience. Therefore, we will not only ensure that your kitchen works efficiently, from an ergonomic point of view, but also, we will ensure that your kitchen design embodies the best feel of space and light. This is most important in achieving the perfect lifestyle solution and ultimate levels of satisfaction. For example, we will ensure that the kitchen and dining / socialising zones are correctly orientated to make the most of those wonderful garden views. It might be the case that we liaise with the builder and architect to install a series of ‘Velux’ style windows or perhaps a lantern ceiling so that the dining / socialising area is a light and inviting place to be.
Often, it’s not necessarily a matter of maximum square feet; it’s more about the materials and finishes that have been used to help achieve a feeling of light and space. The right kind of finishes to cabinetry, floors and work-tops really does make all the difference!
3. Get Several Building Quotes
As already stated, Codsall Kitchen Studio has its own, highly experienced and well-proven construction trade partners; together, we know exactly what’s required for each project and can get an accurate, realistic idea of what each project should cost.
However, for those wishing to use their own builders we would recommend that you get a few building quotes. This will enable you to gain a ‘true’ feel of the costs involved. It also gives you the opportunity to gain some valuable tips; these you can retain and eventually cross reference with your chosen builder.
Make sure that any good recommendations are recent; a lot can change in a couple of years! Be aware of that quote that comes in way under all the others. If something seems too good to be true - then it usually is!
4. Set a Realistic Project Budget!
Plan your budget carefully – both for the build and for the kitchen furniture and appliances. This is another good reason to involve us early on in the process.
Simply having a ‘guesstimate’ sum for the kitchen can lead to the build itself running away with the budget. This leads to a compromised kitchen often with poor quality finishing touches such as the sinks, taps, work-tops and flooring; the kind of details that people touch feel and see!
Codsall Kitchen Studio would always recommend having at least a 20% contingency, within your overall project budget, since very often, there are unforeseen issues as the build moves forward.
